3D Resurface

Now it's time to bring our high res back into Maya. We ddin't change the base shape much in Zbrush, so we can use the low poly cannon from before.



Before we went to Zbrush we upped the polys of the cannon, so we need to return to the original version.



Let's get rid of some of the unnecessary polys.




And check our verts. We need under 10,000.




And Finally, let's fix the UVs from our changes.

Today we had to focus on perspective and create a piece based on the work of John Berkey.

I started by blocking out in Maya.


Then creating a sketch. Of the basic outlines...

Created a base.

Composition Drew Struzan

This week we had to choose a picture from Drew Stuzan and recreate it in our own style. I decided to take Harry Potter, and make it a 1920s Mob film....

Here's the original illustration from Struzan.


I love Harry Potter, so I was excited to work on this project.

I wanted to add more details to the other characters, but I only had time to flesh out Harry. Which is fine for now, since he's the largest one.


Color with some shading. But I felt it was too busy, so I ended up with...

Cannon Up Res

So I had to up res the cannon for the next part of the assignment.


And UV it. Uving is so tedious, but its a necessary evil for texturing.

Silhouette Project

Happy Friday. This week we were tasked with creating a collection of silhouettes based on piece from Brian Froud, the artist behind work such as the Dark Crystal's character designs. First I chose a character, and from there began finding new design idea. I strayed mostly into the monster territory, because I want to practice my creature designs.

Cannon Proxy


Okay. Cannon time.


For today's assignment we were tasked to proxy model a cannon in Maya


First I started with the base, and a simple floor plane.

Then it was the cannon. 


Finally the leaves and grass.


And just for fun, and my aesthetic- without wireframe.
